LOUNGES:
Work or relax awqay from the crowds at an airport lounge and enjoy a quiet haven of tranquility complete with complimentary drinks, snacks, newspapers and magazines. It could cost less than you think too.
The following lounges are available after security control at Stansted.
NO.1 LOUNGE:
This new lounge provides a perfect escape and the chance to enjoy some peace and quiet. It is seperated into different areas - a library, a bistro and a bar. There are also great views of the runway. The main features of the No.1 Lounge are :
- A selection of appetising seasonal dishes, all of which are prepared to order.
- Complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks, tea, coffee and snacks
- Wireless internet access, payphones and fax
- A selection of newspapers and magazines.
Important: Because the lounge is located adjacent to gates 15 - 19, the No.1 Lounge is ideal for travellers departing on all international flights, except for Ryanair, which departs from Satellite 3.
Entry can be purchased at the door or booked online.
SERVISAIR EXECUTIVE LOUNGE:
Book into this stylish, comfortable private lounge and get your trip off to a relaxing start.
Whether you're travelling on business or for pleasure, you'll enjoy service and hospitality for up to three hours before your flight with facilities including:
- Complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks, tea, coffee and snacks
- Wireless internet access, payphones and fax
- A selection of newspapers and magazines.
- Comfortable chairs in quiet surroundings.
Take a little time out for yourself - you know you deserve it.
Important: Because of its location, this lounge is for departing passengers only, and is not available to those flying with Ryanair or on domestic flights with easyJet.
MEETING ROOMS:
Meeting and conference facilities are available at Stansted Airport and at nearby hotels.
UNITED BUSINESS CENTRE:
The United Business Centre is in Endeavour House, a short drive from the terminal (a courtesy car can be provided to collect delegates from the airport if required) and close to Junction 8a of the M11 motorway.
It has meeting rooms for two to 30 delegates, all with broadband internet access, telephones, fax and full secretarial support. The centre is open Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00.
HILTON LONDON STANSTED AIRPORT:
The Hilton London Stansted Hotel, situated within the airport perimeter, provides 16 meeting and conference rooms accommodating anything from two to 250 people. It also has a business centre open Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 19:00, with full secretarial and communications services available.
RADISSON SAS HOTEL LONDON STANBSTED AIRPORT:
The hotel is a two-minute walk from the terminal and offers 26 event and meeting rooms, providing the perfect environment for any business meeting of up to 400 delegates. Facilities include wireless internet access, videoconferencing and a fully equipped business centre.
INTERNET ACCESS:
INTERNET TERMINALS:
Internet desks with broadband-connected PCs are available before and after security control. This service is operated by Spectrum Interactive Ltd. Payment can be made online by credit card, by voucher, or by coin (UK pound or euro).
You'll also find telephone-style internet kiosks where you can check your email or surf the web.
WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS (Wi-Fi):
Enjoy high-speed wireless internet access via your notebook computer or handheld device in all terminals at Stansted. You'll need a wireless compatible (wi-fi 802.11b) device. Most modern laptops have this function built in and many others can be upgraded with a wireless networking card (you can buy these at the airport). Wireless internet access at Stansted is provided by Boingo Wireless.
HOW TO CONNECT:
Turn on your wireless-enabled device.
When prompted to choose a wi-fi network, select the Boingo network.
Launch your web browser and navigate to any web page.
You'll be redirected to the Boingo login page.
If you have a Boingo account, log in. Otherwise you can set up an account or pay as you go. Payment can be made online.
CASH MACHINES (ATMs):
Cash machines are available in key areas around Stansted Airport, before and after security.
All cash machines accept most UK bank and building society cards without a surcharge. They also accept major credit cards, but a charge is usually made for this service.
CURRENCY:
Ordering commission free currency before you get to the airport is easy and convenient. It can also be bought once you arrive at the airport,however pre ordering has the following benefits:

This service is provided by Moneycorp - bureau de change.
FAMILY FACILITIES:
Travelling with children has been made easier at Stansted Airport with many facilities suited for families from changing rooms to pre flight entertainment.

Before security, family room near UK Arrivals and Check-in zone J.
After security, family room just behind the departure lounge airline information desk.
Gates 1 - 19: family room near Gate 13.
Gates 20 - 39: family room near Gates 33/34.
Gates 40 - 50: family room near Gate 43.
Gates 51 - 59: family room near Gate 59.
Gates 81 - 88: baby change within accessible and ladies toilet.
In Arrivals:
International Baggage Reclaim: family room near reclaim 1, baby change cubicles in both ladies and gents toilets near reclaim 9.
UK Baggage Reclaim: baby change in ladies toilet.
Arrivals route from Gates 40 - 59: baby change within accessible toilet
Main arrivals greeting area: baby change cubicles in both ladies and gents toilets.
FOOD AND OTHER ESSENTIALS:
Most restaurants and bars provide high chairs and children's menus.
Pick up baby essentials including nappies, formula milk and baby wipes from Boots, and even from some branches where there is a pharmacy you can get medicines such as Calpol.
Colouring packs containing crayons and a colouring book can be picked up free from Frankie & Benny's or JD Wetherspoon.
At Hamley's you will find toys to amuse children of all ages, while WHSmith stocks plenty of magazines, comics and puzzle books to keep children entertained in the lounges and in the air.
WATCHING THE PLANES:
If your children love to watch the aircraft on the runway, taxiways and stands, Pret A Manger in the departures lounge (after security) offers great airport views through the giant terminal windows.
ARCADE GAMES:
The Voyager Entertainment centre contains a selection of video games ideal for older children. There are branches before and after security.
INFORMATION DESK:
The airport information desk is in the international arrivals area. It is open daily from 05:30 to 01:30 and provides help with general airport enquiries, flight information and paging calls. The information desk offers additional facilities including:
- Photocopying (20p per sheet)
- Sending faxes (£1.50 UK, £2 outside the UK)
- Receiving faxes (20p per sheet)
- Paging cards (20p each).
When the information desk is closed, help is provided via 24-hour courtesy telephones in the terminal and satellite buildings.
After security, there is an airline information desk in the departures lounge.
HELP POINTS:
Assistance can be provided from any of the airport help points. These can be found within each of the Short Stay Car Parks (Red, Orange, Green, Fast Track and 15 Minute Pick Up areas).
There are also help phones outside the revolving terminal entrance doors, and along the outer lane pavement of the set-down area (on the terminal forecourt).
You can request free wheelchair push/provision or help getting your baggage to check in.
LEFT BAGGAGE:
The left baggage desk is between check-in Zones G and H, next to the Monsoon store and outsized baggage drop area. It costs £8.75 per 24 hours or part thereafter, and is open 24 hours.
LOST PROPERTY:
If you lose anything in the terminal, please enquire at the lost property/left baggage desk in check-in Zone G, next to the outsized bag drop area. There is no charge for items collected on the day they were lost. If a day or more passes since you lost the item, please contact the lost property office in the Orange Car Park (Lane Q), which is open daily from 09:30 to 16:30. The following charges apply for lost items :
- Items reclaimed within 24 hours: Free.
- Items reclaimed within a month: £6.
- Items reclaimed within two months: £10.50.
- Items reclaimed within three months: £15.50.
- Items not collected after three months will be disposed of, or sold at auction for charity.
The lost property service at Stansted is operated by ISS who can be contacted via the telephone number above.

POST FACILITIES:
If you need to send a letter or postcard from Stansted, you'll find post boxes in the following locations.
In Check-in Zone E, next to WHSmith.In international arrivals, near WHSmith.
Stamps can be purchased at any branch of WHSmith newsagents.
Please be aware that you can't post parcels using the post boxes for security reasons, and that anything you do post may be inspected by HM Customs.
SHOWERS:
There are showers in the departure lounge (after security) and in international arrivals at Stansted. Just ask at the airport information desk, and for a small charge they'll give you access and provide you with a towel. Ideal for freshening up after a long flight.
SMOKING:
Stansted is a smoke-free airport, in line with British law on smoking in enclosed public spaces. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the terminal building.
Please be aware that once you have passed through security control, you will not be able to smoke anywhere in the airport.
TROLLEYS:
Baggage trolleys are provided in the reclaim hall and other key areas in the terminal building, car parks, rail station and coach station - please help yourself if you require one.
To obtain a trolley you will need a £1, €1 or $0.25 coin, which is refunded when the trolley is returned.
There are change machines in the international and domestic baggage reclaim halls, on the terminal forecourt and in the coach station.
VAT REFUNDS:
Visitors from non-European Union countries can reclaim the sales tax (VAT) on purchases from a number of British retailers.
To claim, first purchase goods from any merchant displaying the Tax Free Shopping sign. Then you will be given a tax refund form by the retailer - keep it along with your receipt.Then when you get to the airport, there is a Customs post box located just after security (on the back wall). Post your receipts and accompanying documentation and this will be stamped and forwarded for processing. Your tax refund will be paid at a later date.
WORSHIP:
The airport chapel provides a prayer room for all faiths and denominations and can be found in Check-in Zone J, opposite Caffè Alba (before security control).
It is available to those seeking a place for quiet and prayer. Opening hours are 05:00 to 23:00 daily.
