The Shard (Also nicknamed The Glass Shard) is a skyscraper in London that is 95 floors tall. It is a small part of the "London Bridge Quarter" development Programme. The Shard is the tallest building in London (4th In Europe) standing at 1,016 ft tall. It is also the second-tallest free-standing structure in the UK.
Construction on the Shard started in March of 2009. Construction was finished on 30th March 2012. The building was full completed including furnishings in November of 2012. The Shard features a privately owned observation deck called The View from The Shard which opened on 1st February 2013.
The Shard features 72 floors of housing, with an open-air observation deck on the 72nd floor designed by an Italian architect named Renzo Piano which replaced the Southwark Towers.
