About Waterloo Station

Waterloo is a London Overground station on the National rail network in the United Kingdom, located in Waterloo near the South Bank of the River Thames. The station, normally known as London Waterloo, Is also  connected to an underground station also called Waterloo and is adjacent to another National Rail station called Waterloo East.

Station Facilities

The station has around 130 automatic ticket gates, and also another 27 in the subway below. The Station is also linked to Waterloo East railway station, across Waterloo Road, by a walkway.

Retail balcony

A balcony along the width of the first floor has been constructed at the station. Their aim is to provide 18 new shops and a new champagne bar, reduce congestion, and improve access to the connected stations through the addition of escalators leading to the high-level walkway between Waterloo and Waterloo East. The size of the circulation space has been increased by removing several retail/food outlets. First floor offices have also been converted into replacement retail/catering spaces. The changes were completed in July 2012, costing £25 million.
